FSC certification provides third party assurance that all wood fibers are from responsible sources. Green building standards, including the US Green Building Council's LEED program, provide incentives for using FSC-certified FSC-C115183 materials. Increasingly, customers are requesting FSC-certified FSC-C115183 products for their green building initiatives.
FSC® and LEED v4
The Certified Wood Credit in the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program has arguably been the single most important driver of forest conservation in history, contributing to tens of millions of acres of improved management and protection. And when it comes from an FSC-certified FSC-C115183, responsibly-managed forest, wood is among the most sustainable building materials.
As a result, FSC is very focused on revisions to the LEED program to ensure it maintains incentives for use of products from responsibly-managed forests. Learn more about the initiatives here.
